CHRIS BOSLEY, BROS for Central Texas Veterans Health Care System

Hello to all.
I am Chris Bosley and I am the new Blind Rehabilitation Outpatient Specialist, BROS, for Central Texas Veterans Health Care System. My job is to provide Blind Rehabilitation Services in the homes and communities of Veterans.

For those Veterans planning to attend or are due to complete the WACO Blind Rehabilitation Center Based Training Program, I can assist them. I provide Blind Rehabilitation Preliminary Training which prepares the Veteran to attend the Waco Program. I provide Advanced Training for after the Veteran graduates the Blind Rehabilitation Center.

There are also Blind Assistant Services offered for those Veterans who, for what ever reason, are unable to attend the Center Based Training Program.

I look forward to meeting the Blinded Veterans and working with them in the field.

CHRIS BOSLEY WACO VA BROS

Chris Bosley Waco VA BROS
I was born in Lawrence, Kansas.
My dad was attending Kansas University, at that time.
Soon after I was born, my family moved to New Orleans, Louisiana.
Five years later, my family moved again, this time we went to Katy, Texas.
Katy is a town west of Houston off of I-10. I consider Katy, Texas to be my home town.

My educational background was achieved by completing two Master Degree Programs in Rehabilitation Teaching and Orientation and Mobility from Western Michigan University. I completed my Internship at the Blind Rehabilitation Center at Hines VA, in Chicago, Illinois. I also have a Bachelor Degree in Health Science from Stephen F. Austin State University.

Before coming to the Waco VA, I worked as an Itinerant Blind Rehabilitation Instructor for the State of Colorado.
Prior to becoming the BROS at the Waco VA, I worked in their Blind Rehabilitation Center Program for approximately four years. At the center, I taught classes in Orientation and Mobility, Living Skills, Adaptive Computer Class, and Manual Skills. I now live in the Waco area with a wife, two children under the age of five, and a golden retriever dog.

Overall my goal is to improve the quality of life for Veterans who are visually impaired. To accomplish this goal, I plan to teach Blinded Veterans the necessary skills and use of adaptive aids to increase their level of independence. By improving the Blinded Veterans level of independence, I will achieve my goal and meet each visually impaired Veterans specific needs.

Sincerely, Chris Bosley

The path of Life is not guaranteed.

Life's path is uneven,
mysterious and challenging.
Each step a choice.
Do we retreat or go forth?

Cowards weary and fall.
The brave sometimes falter.

Still, all who have worn the uniform,

all who have lifted their hand to the flag,

all that have sworn the Oath....

They Persevere!

They Achieve!

They Conquer!
